The government has allocated more than UAH 2.38 billion from the state budget reserve fund to restore roads in the border and frontline regions. These funds will be used to restore roads used for the needs of the Armed Forces and humanitarian purposes.
This was announced by the First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine, Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yuliya Svyrydenko during a working visit to Donetsk Region, the press service of the Ministry of Economy reports.
"Today, the government has decided to allocate more than UAH 2 billion 386 million to restore roads in eight key regions for the country's defence. In particular, the Donetsk Regional Military Administration will receive UAH 324.5 million," the Minister said.
She added that the funds can be spent exclusively on restoring destroyed roads used to transport military and humanitarian supplies and as evacuation routes.
"Today, when we are in Donetsk Region, we see that business continues to operate despite huge challenges, demonstrating incredible resilience. The key issues include damage to the power grid, access to finance, compensation for businesses that suffered damage during Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine, and others. We are looking for solutions to each of these issues. In particular, the first one, on improving logistics, was announced today. This is a contribution to the defence capability of the region and an opportunity to save thousands of lives," added Yuliya Svyrydenko.
In accordance with the government's decision, the funds will be allocated for road repairs:
- Dnipropetrovsk Region - UAH 196.4 million;
- Donetsk Region - UAH 324.5 million;
- Zaporizhzhya Region - UAH 350 million;
- Mykolayiv Region - UAH 307.1 million;
- Sumy Region - UAH 222.2 million;
- Kharkiv Region - UAH 502.95 million;
- Kherson Region - UAH 224.3 million;
- Chernihiv Region - UAH 258.79 million.
The funds will be at the disposal of regional administrations, which must agree with the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Infrastructure on the list of roads that are important for defence and humanitarian purposes and are to be restored.
