An enemy informant was sentenced to 15 years in prison in Vinnytsya Region, the SBU reports.
The SBU notes that, on the instructions of the Russian secret service, the man was preparing a series of missile and drone strikes on Ukrzaliznytsya facilities and the energy sector. To carry out the enemy's task, the agent tried to establish the locations of the hub stations used by the military echelons of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
He also collected information on the technical condition of substations that supply electricity to railway infrastructure.
The agent was to pass the intelligence to his Russian supervisor via an anonymous mailbox. The "report" included the coordinates of potential targets with their photos and text explanations.
In case of successful completion of the task, the FSB "guaranteed" to transfer 100 thousand rubles to the bank card of his accomplice to purchase a car.
The offender hoped that the Russian special service would later "evacuate" him to the territory of Russia.
The SBU documented his activities and detained him on an attempt to transfer intelligence.
According to the investigation, the enemy accomplice was a 57-year-old local resident who was remotely recruited by the Russian secret service in May 2023.
He came to the FSB's attention because of his pro-Kremlin views, which he shared on his Odnoklassniki social media page.
During the search, a mobile phone used by the defendant to communicate with the aggressor was seized.
Based on the evidence collected, the court found the offender guilty under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law) and sentenced him to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
As a reminder, an enemy informant was recently sentenced to 15 years in prison for high treason in Ternopil Region. From August 2022 to January 2023, a resident of Ternopil region sent intelligence information to a Russian special service officer via a messenger.
