Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin said that the United States will soon announce a new $2.3 billion defence package to help Ukraine, which will include anti-tank weapons, ammunition for the Patriot and other air defence systems.

This was stated by US Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin during a meeting with Ukrainian Defence Minister Rustem Umerov in Washington on Tuesday, reports AR.

Austin's statement came during a meeting with Ukrainian Defence Minister Rustem Umerov at the Pentagon. They mark a strong response to Kyiv's request for help in the fight against Russian troops in Donetsk Region.

Austin specified that the package would include "air defence missiles, anti-tank weapons and other critical munitions from US stockpiles," Voice of America writes.

The package will be provided to Kyiv under the authority of the US President, according to which weapons, ammunition and equipment are provided from existing US stockpiles to meet Ukraine's urgent needs.

The US has also changed the sequence of execution of some orders from foreign buyers, which allowed "to purchase more missiles for the Patriot and NASAMS systems, which will be provided on an accelerated schedule," Austin explained.
