During a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, US President Donald Trump said that NATO and the US had reached an agreement on supplying weapons to Ukraine, according to Yevropeyska Pravda.

On 14 July, US President Trump confirmed that he had agreed to a deal to supply weapons to Ukraine and stressed that the US produces “the best military equipment in the world.”

The new equipment will be manufactured for NATO and will be available for further supply to Ukraine.

“We make the best equipment, the best missiles, the best of everything, European countries know this, and today we have signed an agreement under which we will supply them with weapons, and they (NATO, ed.) will pay for them,” Trump said.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte also promised that Ukraine would receive “a huge amount of military equipment.”

“This will mean that Ukraine will be able to receive a truly huge amount of military equipment, both for air defence and missiles and ammunition,” the Secretary General said.

Rutte added that he is in contact with “many countries” that intend to join this agreement – in particular, he mentioned Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Great Britain, the Netherlands and Canada.

According to Mark Rutte, NATO will work through its mechanisms to “clearly understand what Ukrainians need.”

  • Trump said that Ukraine will receive billions of dollars’ worth of military equipment, including 17 Patriot systems, which will be paid for by NATO.
