Bloomberg claims that some of the NATO countries that pledged to provide Ukraine with air defence systems have not yet fulfilled them. This includes the five long-range air defence systems promised at the NATO Summit in Washington.
Back in July, the US, Germany and Romania claimed that each of them would send a Patriot to Ukraine, and another system would be assembled from components provided by several countries. Italy was to add a SAMP-T surface-to-air system to the mix. US President Joe Biden called the agreement a "historic donation".
However, some of the promises were not followed up with real actions. There is a risk that they will not be fulfilled in the autumn, when Ukraine risks being subjected to massive shelling of critical infrastructure by Russia again.
Bloomberg's interlocutors also point out that support for Ukraine among its allies remains extremely uneven, and the problems relate not only to air defence systems but also to equipment for reserve brigades, which negatively affects the country's defence capability.
