Today it became known that Roman Holovatyuk, a World Games medallist and Honoured Master of Sports of Ukraine, has died.
The news was reported by the press service of the Kamyanets-Podilskyy City Council and the Youth and Sports Committee of the Verkhovna Rada.
Roman Holovatyuk was considered one of the best athletes in WAKO kickboxing.
"He made a loud name for himself throughout Ukraine and beyond at the age of 22 when he won a medal at the X World Games in Poland in 2017. And after that, he continued his outstanding sports career: WAKO kickboxing champion, World Games finalist, world champion, multiple World and European Cup winner, multiple champion of Ukraine. He was a glorious athlete, a true Ukrainian, a warrior and a hero," the committee said.
The Kamyanets-Podilskyy City Council added that Roman Holovatyuk made a powerful contribution to the development of Ukrainian sports. Following the call of his heart, Roman gave up his sports career and volunteered from the first days of the war.
Roman Holovatyuk was born on 30 September 1995 in Krasnostavtsi village, Chemerovets district, Khmelnytskyy Region. In 2012, he entered the Podil State Agricultural and Technical University. In 2014, he started training in the kickboxing section.
