The city of Vovchansk in Kharkiv Region has been almost completely destroyed, with 10-20 local residents periodically appearing on the southern relatively safe outskirts of the city.

Tamaz Gambarashvili, head of the Vovchansk CMA, told Suspilne Novyny media outlet.

"Some people remain who refused to leave. First of all, these people are located in the southern part of the city on the outskirts - where it is more or less safe and where they are protected by our Armed Forces. But this is a small number - 10-20 people who live or do not live permanently, but visit," he said.

The city of Vovchansk and the neighbouring border villages of Vovchi Khutory, Tykhe and Volokhivka are the most affected by hostile shelling. Due to constant shelling, they have been destroyed by almost 90%.

Most of the residents of the Vovchansk community have been evacuated, and about 2,500 people remain in its settlements outside the city of Vovchansk. Compulsory evacuation of children is also underway.

"Today, there is an order for the forced evacuation of children from the entire territory of the Vovchansk community. Last year, we evacuated 100% of the residents and children of Vovchansk. Now we are evacuating the entire community," adds the head of the CMA.

The 2.5 thousand residents who remained in the settlements of the Vovchansk community are provided with everything they need, including food, hygiene products and drinking water, thanks to the authorities, charities, foundations and volunteers.

Gambarashvili also adds that some people refuse to leave because they are attached to their homes and farms. Most of those who agreed to leave remain in Kharkiv and other settlements of the Kharkiv Region.
