Since the beginning of the invasion, Russia has destroyed or damaged more than 3,400 educational institutions.
These figures were provided by Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin.
"Schoolchildren in Ukraine started the school year to the sound of Russian missile fire," he wrote on social media platform X.
Over the 2.5 years of war, Russia has killed 572 children in Ukraine and injured another 1,568.
More than 19,500 children have been forcibly displaced by Russians.
Currently, 4,000 cases of war crimes against children are being investigated in Ukraine. Fifty-four people have been notified of suspicion of involvement in these crimes.
Investigations against 44 people have already been completed and trials have begun. Thirty-one war criminals have been convicted of crimes against Ukrainian children.

- On 1 September, Russian criminals launched a missile attack on Sumy. Seven children were injured in the attack.
- An 8-year-old boy was killed in a missile attack in Zaporizhzhya. His 13-year-old sister was injured.
- On 21 August, Russia attacked a children's cafe in Zaporizhzhya Region. Six children were injured.
