The Russian army has attacked an educational institution in Poltava. The enemy used two ballistic missiles to hit the institution and a nearby hospital, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
One of the buildings of the communications institute was partially destroyed. According to the State Emergency Service, as of 4 September, 53 people were killed and 298 injured.
President Zelenskyy ordered an investigation into all the circumstances of the tragedy.
"All the necessary services are involved in the rescue operation," he said.
Zelenskyy said that the Russian scum would be held accountable for the attack.
According to the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, the enemy used two ballistic missiles.
"The time interval between the alarm and the arrival of the deadly missile was so short that it caught people at the moment of evacuation to the bomb shelter," the ministry said. Thanks to the coordinated work of rescuers and medics, 25 people were rescued, 11 of whom were unblocked from the rubble.’
Debris removal at the site of the attack is ongoing. According to the Minister of Internal Affairs, residential buildings were damaged near the site of the attack. More than 100 reports of damaged property have been received.
The Ministry of Defence noted that "the time interval between the alarm and the arrival of the deadly missiles was so short that it caught people at the moment of evacuation to the bomb shelter".
Defence Ministry spokesman Dmytro Lazutkin said during a teleconference that no formations were being held at the time of the attack on the military school in Poltava.
Minister Rustem Umerov has now instructed the Defence Ministry's Chief Inspectorate to conduct an internal investigation.
"According to our data, the educational process was taking place in the institution. At 9:08 a.m., the alarm sounded, and everyone went down to the shelter. A few minutes after the alarm was sounded, explosions occurred. The details of the tragedy in Poltava are being investigated. It is known that there were no formations or other activities at the time of the attack," Lazutkin said.
The Russians attacked Poltava on the morning of 3 September. Currently, the city has announced a blood drive for the wounded. You can become a donor any day during the week, the RMA said.
More than 70 people donated blood.
According to RBK-Ukraine, the SBI opened proceedings under Part 4 of Article 425 of the Criminal Code, which is negligence of duty.
