Another Russian agent who spied on Ukrainian troops holding the line in the Kramatorsk sector was detained in Donetsk Region. The traitor was a 52-year-old resident of frontline Druzhkivka.

This was reported by the SBU and the Prosecutor General's Office.

First of all, the agent tried to identify the combat positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces artillery, which keeps under fire control the Russian assault groups trying to capture Chasiv Yar. The Russian agent was also interested in the locations of the largest concentration of military equipment and ammunition depots of the Defence Forces.

To recruit the man, Russian agent used his friend, who left Ukraine for Russia in 2014 and later joined a special task force brigade of the Russian Guard.

During the 3 months of ‘cooperation’, the man passed on information about the location of personnel and military equipment of the Defence Forces. For the purpose of secrecy, he pretended to be a fisherman and took the appropriate equipment on the road.

The SBU timely exposed the Russian agent in Druzhkivka, documented his criminal actions and detained him. During the searches, the SBU seized his mobile phone and SIM cards, which he used to communicate with the aggressor.

Based on the collected evidence, the SBU investigators served the detainee a notice of suspicion under Part 2 Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law).

The offender is currently in custody. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
