Russia's attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure have killed 35 civilians and caused more than $1 billion in damage to the country's energy system.

This was announced by Deputy Prosecutor General Oleksiy Khomenko during the high-level international conference ‘United for Justice. Accountability for Attacks on Civilian Objects,’ Ukrinform reports.

"If the energy infrastructure can be restored with the help of our international partners, I would like to emphasise that these strikes have claimed the lives of civilians, including employees of energy companies. Thirty-five civilians were killed as a result of these strikes, and more than a hundred people were injured," Khomenko said.

According to Khomenko, the enemy used missiles and artillery to attack energy facilities, and Russia struck more than 40 times at some energy facilities. No region of Ukraine has escaped attacks on energy infrastructure.

The European Union has assured that it will continue to support Ukraine, particularly in the energy sector, as winter approaches.
