Ukrainian defence units defending Vuhledar were allowed to leave the city to save their personnel and equipment.

This was reported by the Khortytsya Unit. Russia has not given up trying to capture Vuhledar, they noted.

"In an attempt to take control of the city at any cost, Russia managed to send reserves to conduct flanking attacks that depleted the defence of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. As a result of the enemy's actions, there was a threat of encirclement. The High Command has given permission for a manoeuvre to withdraw units from Vuhledar in order to save personnel and military equipment and take up a position for further action," the statement said.

  • Vuhledar is a town in Volnovakha district of Donetsk Region. The Russians have literally wiped it out, destroying almost all the buildings. Despite constant attacks, the defenders continued to hold some positions in the city.
  • The heroic defence of the city was led by the defenders of the 72nd Brigade. Yesterday, Deep State analysts reported that Russians had completely captured the city. The brigade denied this: the defenders still held their positions in the city. They added that they had not been ordered to leave.
