Between 1 June and 31 August 2024, 589 civilians were killed and 2,685 others were injured as a result of Russian aggression.
This is stated in the report of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner.
In July, the main reason for the large number of civilian casualties was a massive Russian missile attack on 8 July. The increase in civilian casualties was caused by Russia's intensified efforts to occupy the Donetsk Region.
‘During the reporting period, Russian armed groups continued their systematic attacks on energy infrastructure critical to the civilian population in Ukraine,’ the UN report said.
August was the deadliest month for Ukrainian civilians since October 2022.
Between 1 June and 31 August, the Russian armed forces carried out at least four massive missile attacks against the civilian population of Ukraine.
