The United Kingdom will provide Ukraine with 2.3 billion pounds ($3 billion) in the form of a loan guaranteed by frozen Russian funds.
According to Bloomberg, this amount was announced by Defence Secretary John Healey during a press briefing. His counterpart from the British Treasury, Rachel Reeves, said that the government wants to provide these funds to Ukraine as soon as possible.
According to Healy, Ukraine will discuss with London the best way to use the funds. The minister refused to answer the question whether Kyiv could use the money to buy Storm Shadow missiles.
The loan will be part of the Group of Seven countries' overall plan to provide Ukraine with $50 billion from seized Russian assets. The European Union has previously confirmed that it will contribute €35 billion. Other countries are to confirm their commitments on Friday during a ministerial meeting in Washington.
