In Kharkiv Region, a collaborator was sentenced to 11 years in prison with confiscation of property for broadcasting Russian TV channels during the occupation of Kupyansk. This was reported by the SBU.
According to the case file, he collaborated with Russia during the occupation of the region at the beginning of a full-scale war. The convict is a former engineer of a radio and television station in the Kupyansk district. After the seizure of the community, he ensured the broadcasting of Russia's central TV channels in the region. Among them are the leading mouthpieces of Kremlin propaganda: ‘Channel One, NTV and Rossiya-1.
The collaborator clandestinely used the frequencies of Ukraine's digital terrestrial television to broadcast hostile information resources.
In addition, in June 2022, he gave an interview to the enemy propagandist Mariana Naumova, who called for the seizure of Ukraine and mass repression of Ukrainians, including children.
During the broadcast, the collaborator praised the Kremlin regime and expressed hope for the occupation of the entire territory of the Kharkiv Region.
He also took part in the filming of a staged story for RosTV about the alleged provision of ‘humanitarian aid’ from Russia to local residents.
SBU officers detained the racist supporter in his apartment, where he tried to avoid justice after the liberation of Kupyansk.
Based on the evidence, the court found the offender guilty under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- p. 6 Art. 111-1 (collaboration);
- p. 3 of Art. 436-2 (justification, recognition as lawful, denial of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).
In addition to the sentence, the offender was deprived of the right to hold certain positions for ten years after his release.
