LB.ua news feed was included in the list of leaders in compliance with standards in the fourth quarter of 2024. These are the results of the monitoring conducted by the Institute of Mass Information in December.

In general, popular online media increased their level of compliance with standards during the reporting period. The following online media are among the leaders:

  • Babel
  • ZN.UA
  • Suspilne
  • Liga.net
  • Ukrayinska Pravda
  • LB.ua
  • hromadske.

The news in these media outlets complied with the standards by over 95%. On Babel and Liga.net, all the content of the News section during the monitoring period met professional journalistic standards.

Regarding LB.ua, the monitoring study reported: ‘the vast majority of publications in the News section comply with journalistic standards. However, during the monitoring period, one story was recorded that violated the standard of separating facts from comments. The news headline contained the lexicon ‘illegal immigrants’, which has a negative connotation in relation to certain social groups.’

The list of websites with the lowest level of compliance with news standards has not changed in the new study. These are TSN, Telegraf, Focus, Channel 24, Obozrevatel and UNIAN.

‘Over the course of the year, the monitored media have restored the overall level of compliance with professional standards in the news. That is, the current indicators are very close to those of the end of last year. In the summer of 2024, IMI monitoring recorded a significant decrease in the overall level of compliance with news feed standards - there was an increase in the number of false news in online media and an increase in the number of cases of violations of the principle of presumption of innocence, which does not meet the standard of separating facts from comments. But in the fourth quarter of 2024, the number of such errors decreased. Thus, the overall level of compliance with the standards has increased again and is now almost equal to last year's,’ said media expert Dmytro Barkar.
