On the morning of 7 January, Russian forces launched several attacks on the town of Semenivka in Chernihiv Region, wounding three civilians and causing destruction. The press service of the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration reported the incident.
“The enemy fired several times at Semenivka this morning. Three people were wounded, two of whom were hospitalised. There is destruction, and the threat of repeated shelling remains,” the administration stated.
It was later confirmed that Semenivka had been under Russian artillery fire since 6 January. On the evening of 6 January, residential buildings caught fire as a result of the attacks. The shelling continued the next morning, wounding two men, aged 45 and 65, and a 68-year-old woman. Two of the injured were hospitalised.
The strikes damaged civilian infrastructure, including an enterprise, as well as residential buildings and houses.
Meanwhile, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine (SBGSU) refuted earlier reports of a border breakthrough by Russian forces in northern Chernihiv Region but warned that the threat of continued shelling remains high.
