Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyy has supported the concept of the first separate medical unit in the Ukrainian army.

This was reported by the Medical Service of the International Legion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

For two and a half years, the medical service has been training, evacuating, and providing assistance at stabilisation points in Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhya, and Donetsk Regions.

"All doctors know how difficult this work is, how many external and internal obstacles stand in the way. We have always tried to understand the root of these problems and find ways to solve them constructively, calmly, reasonably and systematically. Throughout, we shared our experience and solutions to existing problems publicly," the statement said.

The military medics said that they tried to improve the level of medical care not only within their unit but also to create the preconditions for each serviceman to receive proper medical care.

"Our goal was to create a separate medical unit that would allow us to scale up our experience and improve the provision of medical care in the combat zone. We discussed its creation at public events, congresses, conferences, in ministerial offices, in communication with the high command and other military personnel. We presented our vision and concept of a separate medical unit at a meeting with the Commander-in-Chief. And we received support," the Medical Service stressed.
