Last year, Ukraine almost doubled its UAV production plan. The president announced his intention to produce one million drones, but instead managed to produce 1,800,000, said Oleksandr Yakovenko, founder of the drone manufacturing company TAF Drones. He outlined the current situation during the discussion of the New Country project Economy as the Foundation of National Security.
According to Yakovenko, he has already supplied more than 500,000 FPV components to the market. Accordingly, at least half a million were produced in the first quarter.
And this is taking into account changes in the management of the Defence Procurement Agency, the beginning of the budget year and other situations that affect the procurement of weapons and components.
‘I think about a million drones, maybe eight hundred thousand (will be delivered - Ed.) in the first 3-4 months of 2025,’ he predicted.
He believes that both manufacturers and the state will be able to meet the need for drones in the Ukrainian army.
‘As for the drones and other products, I don't have all the information, it's a broader issue. But the declared volumes can be fulfilled. And as I understand it, the state has enough resources to do so,’ he said.
