President holds Supreme C’n’C Staff meeting to increase drone production, confirms Ukrainian presence in Belgorod Region

Special attention is paid to the production of fibre-optic drones.

On 7 April, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief Staff to increase the production of drones: from Mavic to long-range drones, as well as fibre-optic UAVs.

"Today I held a meeting. The main thing is reports on the production of drones in Ukraine; we are increasing it as much as possible. And across the entire line of drones: from Mavic to long-range drones, and we are also increasing our Ukrainian capabilities for the production of ground robotic systems. In fact, we need a constant, stable growth in production and supply of all the necessary parts of the unmanned component to the troops, and we have good prospects for the current year," the Head of State said in his evening address.

The parties also discussed increasing the production of fibre-optic drones. According to the President, since the beginning of 2025, more than 20 new certified models of drones with fibre-optic control systems have been produced.

11 domestic enterprises have already mastered the production of fibre-optic drones. The main task is to achieve maximum production and supply volumes.

"Today I have instructed to sign the maximum number of contracts. There is also a positive trend in diplomatic strikes: I cannot give specific figures, but this year we will provide the necessary volume for our Defence Forces. I would like to thank all our companies involved, as well as all our soldiers, all specialists – everyone who develops the unmanned component for our army, for all our forces," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

He also spoke about the frontline, in particular the fighting on Russian territory.

"Today, Chief of the Army Oleksandr Syrskyy reported separately on the frontline, our presence in Kursk Region and our presence in Belgorod Region. We continue to conduct active operations in the border areas on the enemy's territory, and this is absolutely fair – the war must return to where it came from," the President said.

  • Earlier, Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyy noted that the Armed Forces of Ukraine had increased the efficiency of using unmanned systems at the front, achieving record results.
  • The developers of the Brave1 cluster have tested fibre-optic FPV drones that operate despite the effects of electronic warfare.
  • In January, the Defence Innovation Directorate of the Ministry of Defence conducted a presentation test of FPV drones controlled via fibre-optic cable.
