A Coalition of the willing
- Against the backdrop of tensions between Kyiv and Washington, Europe has stepped up efforts to secure a just peace for Ukraine. London and Paris have taken the lead in this regard. The British prime minister was the first to announce that his country was ready to send peacekeepers to Ukraine to ensure security after Ukraine and Russia agree to end the war.
- Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron are meeting with other leaders to develop concrete steps. The Coalition of the willing unites about 30 countries, and although not all of them are ready to send their own troops to Ukraine, they show support for the idea and express their willingness to help in various ways.
- Coalition leaders have met in Paris, Brussels and London. One of the main topics of discussion was the deployment of foreign troops in Ukraine to guarantee security after the ceasefire.
- In April, representatives of partner countries visited Ukraine to discuss the deployment of the contingent. A meeting was held in Kyiv with the chiefs of staff of the countries leading the coalition of the willing. The French side was represented by General Thierry Burkhardt, and the British side by Admiral Antony Radakin. This is a guarantee contingent that will be deployed to strategic locations, but not on the contact line. These troops should be a guarantee of security after the ceasefire. In case of repeated Russian aggression, they will have to respond.
