Dutch Defence Minister Ruben Brekelmans has said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has been invited to the NATO summit in The Hague on 24 June.
The politician made this statement in an interview with the Dutch broadcaster WNL.
According to him, NATO is considering where the Ukrainian president “can have a good place in the programme of the event”.
US President Donald Trump will also attend the NATO summit in The Hague on 24 June, but it remains unclear whether the leaders of Ukraine and the United States will meet.
- Earlier, Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte expressed their intention to invite Zelenskyy to the summit, though they stated they were unable to extend a formal invitation at the time.
- Previous media reports indicated that the United States did not want Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to attend the NATO summit. However, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio later denied this.
