From 1 to 15 June, Glasgow will host the Time Based: Sonic Interventions festival, which will bring together experimental artists from Ukraine and the United Kingdom in a series of live concerts, sound performances and audiovisual installations.

This was announced by The British Council on its Facebook page.

The festival invites reflection on the complex nature of sound interventions in our lives. Taking air raid sirens, which have become an integral part of reality in Ukraine, as a starting point, the programme explores the dual nature of sound — its poetic potential and threatening power.

Five new projects have been created especially for the festival, which will be presented at various locations in Glasgow:

• Genevieve Murphy (UK) and alice haspyd (UA)

• Yuriy Seredin (UA) and Raymond MacDonald (UK) with Improvising Chamber Ensemble (UK)

• Alla Zahaykevych (UA)

• Photinus Studio (UA) and Zoë Irvine (UK)

• Anna Khvyl and Piotr Armyanovskyy (UA)

The discussion programme will bring together artists and researchers from various disciplines to jointly explore the social, political and emotional impact of sound on both people and the environment.

The project is supported by the British Council's international cooperation programme.
