On 17 October, the Poltava Regional Philharmonic will host a concert titled “Polish Music in Ukraine.” The Dmytro Akhsharumov Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Roman Rewakowicz, will perform works by renowned Polish composers Grażyna Bacewicz, Mieczysław Karłowicz, and Witold Lutosławski. The soloists will be acclaimed Ukrainian musicians — pianist Dmytro Tavanets and violinist Andriy Pavlov.
The concert is part of the Pro Musica Viva Foundation programme, aimed at promoting Polish music in Ukraine. The initiative is financially supported by Poland’s Ministry of Culture and National Heritage in cooperation with the Polish Institute in Kyiv. Previous concerts in this series have already taken place in Khmelnytskyy, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, and Ternopil.

The next concert in the series will be held in Kyiv at the National Philharmonic of Ukraine, featuring Henryk Mikołaj Górecki’s Symphony of Sorrowful Songs, with soprano Oksana Kramareva, soloist of the National Opera of Ukraine.

Founded in Warsaw in 1998, the Pro Musica Viva Foundation has been building musical bridges between Ukraine and Poland.
Since 1999, it has organised the “Days of Ukrainian Music in Warsaw” festival, introducing Polish audiences to masterpieces of Ukrainian academic music.
