Zelenskyy: Situation remains difficult in Pokrovsk and Novopavlivka direction as fighting for four villages continues

The situation in the Sumy direction has improved.

The situation in Pokrovsk remains complicated, with the Defence Forces making significant efforts to destroy Russians. The situation is also difficult in the Novopavlivka direction, where the Russian army previously captured eight villages in the Dnipropetrovsk Region.

The Defence Forces have already liberated four of them, and the fight for the remaining four continues. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this at a meeting with journalists on 19 October, according to an LB.ua correspondent.

According to the president, there are no Russians in the vicinity of Lyman, and reports to the contrary were misinformation. All Russian attempts to reach Lyman have been repelled.

The situation has improved for the defenders in Kupyansk and the Sumy Region, the president added.

“The Sumy direction — things have gotten a little better there,” he said, reporting on the main changes on the front.

  • Pokrovsk is a city in the Donetsk Region that has long been the main direction of the Russian offensive. On 16 October, the General Staff reported that “counter-sabotage and stabilisation measures” were being carried out in and around the city.
  • The Airborne Assault Forces recently reported that Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups had managed to enter Pokrovsk. The Russians are shooting at the city’s residents.
