As a result of another Russian attack on Kherson, a historic building that housed Italy’s consulate from 1906 to 1918 was damaged.
This was reported by the Embassy of Italy in Ukraine.
Italian Ambassador Carlo Formosa expressed condolences to Kherson residents and condemned the actions of Russian forces. He stressed that the aggressor kills civilians every day and destroys our country’s cultural heritage.
“A valuable building was struck and burned—one that is not only an Art Nouveau landmark from the early 20th century, but also a symbol of how long-standing the friendship between Italy and Ukraine is, as well as the strength of relations that were maintained with this nation long before it gained independence,” the diplomat emphasised.
Formosa underscored that Italy continues to support the Ukrainian state in its pursuit of a just and lasting peace.
Earlier, the Russian army struck the Honorary Consulate of Latvia in Slovyansk with a guided aerial bomb.
