Ukraine expects to reach important bilateral agreements with Norway within the framework of a strategic partnership.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this after speaking with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.
“I briefed Jonas on the implementation of the FREYJA program and the schedule for our next steps. Norwegian representatives are involved in the work, and we appreciate their contribution. We also coordinated our activities for August. We expect to reach important bilateral agreements within the framework of the strategic partnership between our countries,” the head of state said.
The leaders also discussed protecting Ukraine from Russian strikes.
“I am grateful to Norway for its readiness to help both with supplying air defense systems and with working with partners that have relevant anti-ballistic capabilities. We are trying to speed up all processes as much as possible: opportunities to protect our people are needed every day,” Zelenskyy added.
- That same day, the president held a meeting on preparations for Ukraine’s ballistic capabilities and the status of tasks under the FREYJA anti-ballistic program.
- At the meeting, a schedule and responsible officials were identified for the program components that need to be accelerated, the head of state said following the meeting.
- Those involved in the work include the prime minister, the Ministry of Defence, the National Security and Defence Council, the Foreign Intelligence Service, the Air Force Command, Brave1, and the most technologically advanced teams in Ukraine’s defence industry.
- Zelenskyy believes Ukrainians have the scientific base and expertise to create their own ballistic missiles and an anti-ballistic system.
