During the night of 28 August, the Defence Forces attacked the Slavneft-YANOS oil refinery in the Russian city of Yaroslavl. A fire was recorded on the plant’s premises.
The attack was reported by the General Staff. The extent of the damage is being clarified.
It is one of Russia’s largest refineries. It is part of PJSC Slavneft. Its capacity is about 15 million tonnes of oil per year. Slavneft-YANOS carries out a full oil refining cycle and produces motor petrol, diesel and aviation fuel, fuel oil, bitumen, lubricants and other petroleum products.
“The facility is involved in meeting the needs of the Russian Armed Forces,” the General Staff said.
- As a result of the attack on Yaroslavl, the road to Moscow was closed from there. Explosions were also heard in Saratov, Engels and other cities in Russia and in the occupied territory.
- This is not the first attack on the Yaroslavl refinery: it has been hit several times already, including on 6 August.
