Tests are continuing in Ukraine of a new generation of drone interceptors designed to protect against Russian jet-powered “Shahed” drones. Ukraine is also working with manufacturers to develop such systems.
President reported this, Volodymyr Zelensky.
According to him, relevant developments are already in place and are currently being tested. Ukraine plans to speed up all processes in order to obtain an effective means of protection against Russian drones in sufficient numbers.
“Ukraine needs a working defence tool in sufficient quantities and with the necessary effectiveness,” Zelensky noted.
The President said that together with Defence Minister Yevhen Khmara and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Mykhailo Drapatyi, he discussed steps that could accelerate the creation and rollout of drone interception systems.
According to Zelensky, the financial basis for this work has already been secured.
Reports on the situation at the front were also heard during the meeting. The President noted that Ukrainian troops continue to hold their positions and defend actively.
Zelensky separately thanked the servicemen carrying out missions in Donetsk Region, in particular fighters of the 3rd Army Corps, the 66th and 125th Mechanised Brigades, and the 46th Separate Airmobile Brigade.
