The Ministry of Defence has codified and approved for supply to the Armed Forces of Ukraine the UAT-SPIDER armoured backhoe loader. It was developed specifically for the needs of military engineering units.

UAT-SPIDER is intended to carry out a wide range of engineering and logistics tasks. It can be used to set up positions and command posts, and to build and restore military roads.
The excavator can also lay temporary roads, dig trenches and pits, carry out earth excavation, build embankments, and perform other earthmoving and landscaping work.
The armoured backhoe loader was manufactured at a Ukrainian defence enterprise with experience in producing armoured vehicles for Ukraine’s Defence Forces.
UAT-SPIDER was designed on the basis of a foreign-made multifunctional backhoe loader. During testing, the vehicle confirmed its stated specifications and capabilities.
Key specifications:
- weight — just over 10 tonnes;
- payload capacity — more than 3 tonnes;
- maximum speed — almost 40 km/h;
- ballistic and mine protection for the cab and critical components — STANAG 4569 Level 1.
Thanks to its design, the excavator is highly manoeuvrable and can operate in confined spaces and hard-to-reach areas.
Among UAT-SPIDER’s features, the Ministry of Defence highlights the maintainability of its units, long service life, ease of maintenance, and a straightforward control logic.
Spare parts and consumables are also available for the equipment. The vehicle offers broad engineering capabilities and strong tactical and technical performance.
For relocation, UAT-SPIDER can operate without a transport low-loader.
