The Security Service of Ukraine has exposed three individuals suspected of collaborating with Russia.
The SBU reported this.
In Lviv Region, a resident of Staryi Sambir will stand trial. Since 2006, she has headed a company in the environmental and hydrometeorology sector. The business produces documentation for the reclamation of landfill sites in Russia.
According to the SBU, after the start of the full-scale invasion the woman did not stop cooperating with the aggressor state; on the contrary, she increased the profitability of her business.
Between 2023 and 2026, the company carried out contracts in the Russian Federation and paid more than 2.2 million hryvnias’ worth of taxes to the Russian budget.
In Zaporizhzhia Region, the SBU exposed a resident of the temporarily occupied city of Enerhodar. According to investigators, in 2023–2024 she was part of a local Russian “election commission” during a sham referendum and illegal “elections”.
Accompanied by Russian troops, the woman went door to door with ballot papers to secure the number of “votes” required by the occupation administration.
She was detained while travelling in transit through Ukraine to one of the European Union countries, where her son lives.
In Kherson, law enforcement officers exposed a man who, during the occupation of the city in 2022, became head of the regional library seized by Russian troops.
According to case materials, while in this post he took part in propaganda events organised by the Russian occupation administration in support of the Kremlin.
In addition, the man gave an interview to the Moscow-controlled TV channel “Tavriia”. According to investigators, he spread falsehoods about Ukraine’s Defence Forces and urged Russia to fully seize Ukraine.
After Kherson was liberated, the man remained in the city and, according to the SBU, tried to go into hiding while waiting for Russian troops to return.
SBU investigators served the suspects with notices of suspicion in line with the crimes committed under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- Parts 4 and 6 of Article 111-1 — collaborative activity;
- Part 2 of Article 28 and Part 5 of Article 111-1 — collaborative activity committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy;
- Part 3 of Article 436-2 — justifying, recognising as lawful, or denying the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, and glorifying its participants.
The suspects face up to 12 years’ imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The comprehensive measures were carried out by SBU officers in Kherson, Zaporizhzhia and Lviv regions under the procedural supervision of the regional prosecutor’s offices.
