The Verkhovna Rada has backed at first reading a draft law on liability for driving vehicles that exceed the permissible noise level. A total of 261 MPs voted in favour, the parliament’s press service reported.
It introduces fines for exceeding the permissible noise level of engines and exhaust systems. During martial law, the fine will be 1,000 non-taxable minimum incomes for the first offence (UAH 17,000), and for a repeat offence — 2,000 non-taxable minimum incomes and mandatory suspension of driving rights for three to six months.
“The draft law, in particular, is aimed at eliminating the factor of acoustic disorientation of air defence forces and mobile fire groups caused by the imitation of the sounds of enemy drones,” the statement said.
