Finnish law enforcement officers have detained two men in Lapland on suspicion of espionage. A court in Helsinki is currently considering whether to remand them in custody.

Police are asking the court to arrest both men, citing reasonable suspicion. They were detained a few days ago in Lapland.
As Yle found, there is no information about the men in Finland’s population register. At the same time, Sweden’s register contains two people whose details match those of the detainees. They are men born in 1986 and 1988.
Both are registered at the same address – in a flat in the small coastal town of Härnösand. They also share the same surname.
According to information from the Pandora Papers data leak, one of the men is the beneficial owner of a company registered in the British Virgin Islands. The firm was one of many companies registered at the same address.
In Finland, the men have no criminal convictions, registered addresses or links to Finnish companies that could be identified through open registers.
