The Russian side is trying to obtain information about Ukrzaliznytsia facilities, their location and condition, as well as the movement of military cargo. The enemy could use the information obtained for further strikes on railway infrastructure.

The company urged people not to agree to offers to photograph railway facilities, share their geolocation, or report on the movement of military cargo.
"If you or your acquaintances are offered, via social media, messaging apps or through contacts, money or the guise of an 'anonymous task' to photograph a Ukrzaliznytsia facility or provide its geolocation, including after shelling, report on the movement of military cargo, damage Ukrzaliznytsia property, or carry out any other actions against the railway — do not agree and do not pass on such information," the statement said.
- In September, Russia struck a railway depot and other Ukrzaliznytsia railway facilities in Kyiv with ballistic missiles. Seven people were killed, including six UZ employees, and others were injured.
- In August, Russia struck the railway in the Brovary district. At the station in the village of Kvitneve, eight people were killed and three others were injured. The victims of the shelling had been waiting for a delayed train.
- That same month, Russia attacked a train in Odesa region with jet-powered drones carrying nearly 600 passengers. The occupiers carried out a second strike on the location when rescuers were already working at the scene.
