Passenger trains continued running during the massive attack on Kyiv. Due to the air-raid threat, boarding and disembarking at the capital’s Central Station and Darnytsia Station were carried out via the underground passages.

The company said its monitoring centre kept a heightened watch on the situation, which made it possible to avoid stopping passenger services. According to the operator, the capital’s railway stations were not damaged in the attack.
At the same time, some trains are running with delays. The services furthest behind schedule are those travelling from central regions of Ukraine, Zaporizhzhya and Dnipropetrovsk Region.
Kyiv City Express trains are currently running the full loop, but delays range from 10 to 30 minutes. Ukrzaliznytsya said that after the all-clear is given, the capital’s railway will return to its standard operating mode.
In the event of a new air-raid alert, passengers are urged to move to shelters without fail. If an alert causes a passenger to miss their service, the operator promises to take them on another train using the same ticket.

What preceded this?
- On the morning of 23 September, the Russian army attacked Kyiv with strike drones. Hits and falling debris were recorded in the Solomianskyi, Holosiyivskyy and Darnytskyy districts. Transport companies and railway infrastructure, a filling station, warehouses, a business centre, non-residential buildings and a shop were hit. Damage was also reported to the data centres of two internet providers and to a construction university.
- Two people were killed in the attack and another 25 were injured. One of the injured later died in hospital despite doctors’ efforts.
