In the morning, Russian forces attacked a residential high-rise building in Kyiv with a drone. As a result of the strike, a 14-year-old boy was killed, and seven other people were injured. Overall, since the start of the day, eight regions of Ukraine have come under Russian attack.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported this on social media.
“An absolutely brutal and sick strike, devoid of any military logic,” the head of state commented.
In Odesa, one person was killed in a repeat strike on a postal terminal. In Zaporizhzhia, the Russians struck a medical clinic while people were inside.
Injuries have also been reported in Sumy and Mykolaiv regions.
Zelenskyy said that during meetings with partners, Ukraine warned that Russia would continue to intensify attacks towards winter unless sufficient pressure was applied.
The President urged the implementation of US sanctions and tougher restrictions from Europe. In his view, it is Ukraine’s partners who have the tools that could help bring the war to an end.
“The Russians must understand that they will not be able to sit it out, and the war must be ended,” Zelenskyy added.
- On the night of 25 September, the Russian army attacked Ukraine with 295 weapons of attack. Air defence neutralised 267 targets. Impacts were recorded at 16 locations, and debris fell in four more places. As of the morning, the attack is ongoing, with enemy UAVs in the airspace.
