Russian propaganda has launched a fake “flash mob” against mobilisation in Ukraine. This was reported by the Centre for Countering Disinformation.
Photos are being shared on social media purportedly showing pregnant Ukrainian women holding sheets with slogans against mobilisation and calls for men to stay at home.
The CCD noted that these images are fakes. Analysis using specialised tools confirmed that the photos were generated by artificial intelligence.
According to the Centre, the original source of the fake content was a network of Russian Telegram channels that systematically produce AI content to destabilise the situation in Ukraine.
The CCD believes the aim of this information operation is to create the illusion of mass protest against mobilisation and to encourage social media users to spread the fabricated materials organically.
The Centre urged users to verify the origin of such materials and not to share unverified information.
