Poland has scrambled military aircraft in response to a Russian attack on Ukraine’s western regions. This was reported by the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces.
“In connection with strikes by the Russian Federation on the territory of western Ukraine using aerial attack assets, military aircraft are operating in Polish airspace,” the statement said.
The Polish command has deployed the necessary forces and resources. Ground-based air-defence systems and radar reconnaissance have been placed on alert.
Poland’s Government Security Centre sent residents of Lublin Voivodeship a warning due to the Russian air attack on Ukrainian territory.
- It was previously reported that on 28 September a Russian drone fell near the Ukrainian-Polish border, close to the “Yahodyn” international border crossing point in Volyn Oblast.
