From October 2026, Sweden will deploy Gripen fighter jets to patrol Polish airspace as part of a NATO mission. Poland’s Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz reported this.
He said the Swedish fighter aircraft would take part in NATO’s air policing mission and strengthen the defence of the Alliance’s eastern flank.
“From October, Sweden will deploy its fighter aircraft to take part in NATO’s air policing mission and strengthen the defence of the Alliance’s eastern flank,” Kosiniak-Kamysz wrote on X.
The minister thanked the Swedish government for the decision, calling it important in view of the security situation in the region and repeated violations of NATO countries’ airspace.
“We thank the Swedish government for this important decision in view of the difficult security situation and repeated violations of NATO airspace,” he noted.
