As a result of Russian attacks on energy infrastructure facilities, as of the morning of 8 October there have been new power outages in the Donetsk, Kharkiv, Sumy and Zaporizhzhya Regions.
Ukrenergo said that emergency repair work is already under way wherever security conditions currently allow. Energy workers are doing everything possible to restore power to all affected consumers as quickly as possible.
To prevent overloading equipment damaged by Russian shelling, in some regions today, throughout the entire day, capacity restriction schedules for industry and hourly outage schedules (up to three rounds) are being applied as a forced measure for all categories of consumers.
Ukrainians are being urged to use electricity sparingly while the restrictions are in place. The outage schedule for a specific address can be found on the official pages of the regional power distribution companies.
Due to a drop in voltage levels in the high-voltage grid, emergency outages have been introduced in parts of Kyiv and the surrounding region as an emergency measure. Previously announced hourly outage schedules are not in effect.
Electricity consumption has fallen. Today, 8 October, as of 09:30, it was 5.5% lower than at the same time yesterday. The reasons for the change are an increase in the volume of forced outages in several regions of Ukraine.
Yesterday, 7 October, the daily peak in consumption was recorded in the evening. It was 1.6% lower than the previous day’s peak — on Tuesday, 6 October.
It is advisable to shift energy-intensive use today to the period when industrial solar power plants operate most efficiently — from 11:00 to 15:00. People are being asked not to switch on several high-power electrical appliances at the same time from 17:00 to 22:00.
