On the night of 8 October, starting from 18:00 the previous day, Russia launched 142 drones at Ukraine. Air defences neutralised 126 of them. 

This was reported by the Air Force. 

“On the night of 8 October (from 18:00 on 7 October), the enemy attacked with 142 Shahed-type strike UAVs (82 of them jet-powered), Gerbera, Parodiya-type decoy drones from the following directions: Oryol, Kursk, Shatalovo — Russia, temporarily occupied Donetsk, temporarily occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea — Hvardiyske,” they said. 

The air attack was repelled by aircraft, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of Ukraine’s Defence Forces.

According to preliminary data, as of 09:30, air defences shot down and suppressed 126 Russian Shahed-type UAVs, Gerbera, and drones of other types.

Hits by the Russia's air attack assets were recorded at seven locations, as well as falling debris in four places.

As of the morning, the attack is ongoing, with several Russian UAVs in the airspace.
