As a result of a massive Russian attack on Ukraine on 7 October, 25 people were killed and another 100 were wounded. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported this.
According to him, the Russians launched a combined strike overnight, using ballistic and cruise missiles as well as attack drones.
“All day today, rescue teams have been clearing the rubble after a Russian missile strike in Pryluky. An Kh-101 missile. A direct hit on a building. Sadly, 19 people were killed, including five young children,” Zelenskyy noted.
The President expressed his condolences to the families and loved ones of those killed.
He also said that during the day Russia continued its strikes on Ukraine with Shahed drones and aerial bombs.
Zelenskyy urged world leaders not to remain silent in the face of Russian attacks and to increase pressure on Russia.
“Putin does not feel that this creates problems for him. Real problems,” the President said.
According to him, easing sanctions pressure on Russia and signals about the possible lifting of sanctions on Russian oligarchs effectively contribute to normalising the war.
“Sanctions in many areas have been weakened, and signals about lifting sanctions on oligarchs are, in fact, signals about normalising the war. Unfortunately. Putin can still sell oil, and calculate the situation in dollars and euros in whatever way still suits him. It suits him to wage war. War is his nature, his ideology. And this is a problem not only for Ukraine, not only for us, not only for our people and our children. It is a problem for everyone in Europe and in the Western world,” Zelenskyy stressed.
The President emphasised that this is a problem for everyone in Europe and in the Western world. “Russia is waging a war against all the rules of life, so that there are no rules at all—only the will of the strong. Perhaps in the West many no longer believe that the Western world still exists, but Putin believes it, Russia believes it. And what is happening in Ukraine is a rehearsal for what Russia wants to keep as an option for what it can do to any country. In Europe, and beyond,” the head of state emphasised.
