Drones struck the Samara linear production and dispatch station (LPDS) in Russia’s Samara Region for the second time in a month.
Footage of the large-scale fire at the site was published by the monitoring channel Exilenova+.
The Samara LPDS is part of the system operated by Russia’s Transneft and is a major hub for transporting, storing and blending oil. The station covers more than 216 hectares.
Its grounds include Europe’s largest tank farm — 71 tanks with a total capacity of more than 1.6 million cubic metres of oil.
The complex also includes the Samara-1 and Samara-2 oil pumping stations, as well as a separate oil blending station.
Four main oil pipelines run through the LPDS, carrying oil from Western Siberia, Tatarstan, Orenburg Region and Kazakhstan.
The previous strike on the station took place on 2 October. At the time, tanks at the Samara-1 and Samara-2 sites were damaged, as well as at the oil blending station.
Four to five tanks with a capacity of 20,000 cubic metres and one tank with a capacity of 50,000 cubic metres sustained significant damage. A process pipeline was also damaged.
