Over the course of 24 hours, Ukrainian forces struck four targets that help finance and sustain Russia’s war against Ukraine.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported this on social media.
Two oil facilities and a training ground in Russia’s Perm, Samara and Astrakhan Regions were hit. Separately, Zelenskyy spoke of a Ukrainian response in the Black Sea.
“Just Ukrainian responses to every Russian strike on our people,” the President said.
- On the night of 2 October, Ukrainian forces carried out a strike on the Samara linear production and dispatch station in Russia’s Samara Region. According to the Special Operations Forces, drones reached their designated targets. The station is part of the Transneft system and is an important hub in the Russian Federation’s oil transport network, through which oil flows from Western Siberia, Tatarstan, Orenburg Region and Kazakhstan pass.
- According to Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence, over the course of a week in late September, Ukrainian forces hit six of Russia’s strategic oil refineries located between 200 and 1,600 km from the front line. These included the Moscow, Perm, Novoshakhtinsk, Kuibyshev and Ilsky refineries, as well as Bashneft-UNPZ.
- It was also reported separately that the Iskra plant, which produces electronic components for Russian weapons, including guided air-launched missiles and Pantsir systems, was hit.
