As a result of a massive Russian attack overnight on 7 October, people were killed in Pryluky, Kyiv and Oleksandriia.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported this on his social media.
“Today, on Putin’s birthday, the Russian army ‘gifted’ him the destruction of a residential building in Pryluky in the Chernihiv Region. It was an ordinary five-storey block,” the President said.
So far, it is known that five people have been killed and 26 injured, including five children. People may still be trapped under the rubble, and rescuers continue to work at the scene.
Another five apartment blocks were damaged in Dnipro, and four high-rise buildings in Kremenchuk. Two people were killed there and another eight were injured.
In Zaporizhzhya, a high-rise residential building was damaged by a drone strike. Two people were killed in Kyiv. Another two were killed in Oleksandriya.
During the overnight attack, the capital and 12 Regions were hit
Overall, during the overnight attack, infrastructure facilities in Kyiv and 12 Regions came under fire. The President noted that one of the key targets of the Russian attack was Ukraine’s energy sector. Russia used around 70 missiles, a significant proportion of them ballistic, as well as attack drones.
The Head of State stressed that protection against ballistic missiles remains one of the main challenges, and that Ukraine needs additional missiles for Patriot air defence systems.
