On 1 October this year, 33-year-old combat medic Ivanna “Haika” Kutsenko was killed in the war.

This was reported by the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, as well as by Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.

Ivanna Kutsenko was born on 26 June 1993 in Rubizhne, in the Luhansk Region.

She studied at the Sumy Professional Medical College. She later pursued higher education at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, specialising in Special Education and Corrective Psychopedagogy.

After the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, she joined humanitarian missions. She worked on humanitarian projects, supporting women and children from frontline areas.

In September 2024, while studying in her third year, she took academic leave and voluntarily enlisted in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. “Haika” served as a senior combat medic in the 39th Separate Marine Battalion, holding the post of senior combat medic.

The servicewoman was killed on the night of 1 October during Russian artillery shelling, when she set out to relieve her comrades, who had been holding positions since May. There, she was also providing assistance to the wounded.
