On the night of 10 October, drones attacked the “NZNF Oil Loading Terminal” in Rostov-on-Don, in Russia’s Rostov region. The strike sparked a fire at the facility.

This was reported by the Telegram channels ASTRA and Exilenova+, as well as the region’s governor, Yury Slyusar.

Local residents reported a series of explosions and posted photos and videos online of a large-scale blaze.

The governor of Rostov region confirmed the drone attack and reported a fire, but did not specify exactly where it broke out. According to him, since the previous evening Russia’s air defences had allegedly shot down more than 100 drones.

Slyusar also said that several high-rise buildings in Rostov-on-Don were damaged. Residents were evacuated, and one person was injured.

In addition, the attack damaged a railway bridge, bringing train traffic in both directions to a halt. Later, the governor reported a drone attack on the port in Azov, where, he said, two vessels were hit.

According to ASTRA’s OSINT analysis, the fire broke out at the “NZNF Oil Loading Terminal”, previously known as “South of Russia”. The facility is located in the Zheleznodorozhny district of Rostov-on-Don.

The terminal is designed for transhipping petroleum products for export. According to the outlet, it is also used to supply fuel to the Russian army and to generate foreign-currency revenues.

The facility’s design capacity is about 2.5 million tonnes per year. It handles products from the Novoshakhtinsk Petroleum Products Plant and other suppliers.
