In Kharkiv region, a former police officer has been sentenced in absentia to 15 years in prison. During the occupation of Kupiansk, the traitor issued Russian passports to local residents. She was found guilty of high treason and collaborationist activity.
This was reported by the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
According to the investigation, in the summer of 2022, during the occupation of Kupiansk, the then inspector of the local police investigative unit voluntarily sided with Russia. On the occupiers’ instructions, she urged acquaintances and local residents to obtain Russian citizenship, advised them and personally issued Russian Federation passports.
Later, the woman took up the post of acting senior inspector of the migration service department in the unlawfully established “Internal Affairs Directorate of the Military-Civil Administration of Kharkiv Region” created by the occupation authorities. As confirmation of her powers, she received an official ID card.
Subsequently, the former police officer became deputy head of the migration department. For her work in the occupation structure, she received 50,000 roubles a month.
During the Armed Forces of Ukraine’s counteroffensive, the woman fled to Russia. She was dismissed from the National Police. In spring 2024, she was notified in absentia of suspicion, and later placed on a wanted list.
On 13 October 2026, the court found the 55-year-old woman guilty of high treason committed under martial law and of collaborationist activity. She was sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment with confiscation of property and a ban on holding positions in law enforcement bodies for 15 years. She was also stripped of the special rank of police captain.
As the convicted woman is evading Ukrainian justice, the term of her sentence will be calculated from the day of her actual detention.
The pre-trial investigation was conducted by investigators of the State Bureau of Investigation’s Territorial Directorate in Poltava. Operational support was provided by SBI officers and the Kharkiv Directorate of the Internal Security Department of the National Police of Ukraine.
