Ukraine is ready for an energy truce and is discussing the issue with international partners.
Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha said this following talks involving the President of Ukraine in London, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reports.
Speaking on the national telethon, Sybiha clarified the parameters of the energy truce that Ukraine is prepared to accept.
According to him, the Ukrainian side will not strike energy facilities on Russian territory, including oil refineries, if Russia stops attacking facilities in Ukraine’s energy system.
"We see support for Ukraine and an understanding of the need to preserve transatlantic unity," Sybiha noted.
According to the minister, Ukraine has the backing of key partners and expects new packages of military and energy assistance from its allies.
He also stressed that Ukraine is interested in restoring the trilateral negotiating format with US involvement in order to maintain the momentum of the peace process.
Sybiga said that Ukraine is ready for a meeting between President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Hungary’s Prime Minister Péter Magyar. To hold it, the time and place need to be agreed, taking into account the Ukrainian president’s schedule.
According to the minister, the parties have a bilateral and European agenda. Issues include opening negotiating clusters for Ukraine and steps regarding the rights of the Hungarian national minority.
"The relevant law has already been adopted; it paves the way for co-operation in all areas, from humanitarian to trade and economic. Our peoples deserve good-neighbourly relations," the head of Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry stressed.
