The Norwegian government will provide Ukraine with an additional 750 million Norwegian kroner (about $78.5m) to support the functioning of the state during the war.

This was announced by Norway’s Minister of Development, Åsmund Aukrust, European Pravda reports.

The funds will be channelled into the World Bank’s special SPUR 2 programme. The money will be used to pay public-sector wages, provide social assistance and rebuild damaged infrastructure.

The Norwegian contribution will make it possible to significantly expand Ukraine’s borrowing capacity. According to Aukrust, every krone of direct assistance enables the World Bank to raise a further roughly three kroner in concessional loans on financial markets. In this way, the 750 million-kroner grant will help attract more than 2 billion kroner for the Ukrainian budget, the Norwegian minister added.
